    • The clear leader

      Canon

      23 July 2005

Canon is the clear leader in this race for digital imaging. I've tried Sony and Nikon cameras, but when I look at the rich colours emanating from my Canon images, I go into sensory overload! They make memories techi-color.

    • What can I say...

      Mrs Ball's Chutney

      23 July 2005

What can I say...it is the best accompaniment and just about the best chutney I have ever tasted. After visiting South Africa, I associate the taste of the chutney with the brilliant sunny skies and vibrancy of the land. I even had to bring 4 bottles of this all the way from New Zealand to my wedding in Malaysia. That's how much I love it!

    • His films capture the spirit of youth.

      Hayao Miyazaki

      02 August 2005

Film maker extrodinaire, Hayao Miyazaki is Japan's most accessible director, giving us box-office classics like 'Princess Mononoke' and 'Spirited Away'. His animated films capture the spirit of youth when its optimism and bouyancy is faced with darkness. The story lines of his original scripts are deeply imaginative and draw on Japanese and European imagery in a way never seen before. The messages in his films speak to us like a reminder of something we have forgotten. Unsurprisingly, other of his films are based on popular children's literature. The Disney-Tokuma Deal ensures that the work of Hayao Miyazaki will continue to dazzle the film going world.

    • Bespectacled Hero

      Where's Waldo

      03 August 2005

Who hasn't looked in one of those pictures of huge crowds in exciting places searching for Waldo, Martin Handford's bespectacled hero who favours red and white striped jerseys? He is also known as ‘Where's Wally’ outside the USA and Waldo books have sold a phenomenal 40 million copies.

    • The most of precious trophies.

      Durian

      03 August 2005

The smell of a durian calls to the soul of a durian lover. Durian addicts will trawl markets filled with truckloads of durians and suddenly be arrested by a whiff of a promise of that perfect durian and dig through the piles of thorns, uncaring that their hands are scratched and bleeding, and then hold aloft in triumph that most of precious trophies! The taste of a durian is indescribable. The durian connoisseur knows that the taste of each and every durian is like no other durian that came before, and no other that will come after. The moment requires 100% concentration. Will it be sweet with a hint of aroma that curls to the back of your tongue? Is it a full and pugnacious durian which makes no apology for filling your mouth with it's presence? Is a sharp and bitter durian as unforgiving as a unforgotten grudge?

    • Feeling of intimacy

      CowParade

      02 September 2005

These cows travel the world and become indigenised by the artists of the planet. Not only are they interesting and eye-catching, but they make me feel like I am in an exhibition where the world is a stage, and there is a feeling of intimacy, like the world is cosier because the cows have gone from pasture to pasture.

    • Take chocolate to a different level

      Cowgirl Chocolates

      03 September 2005

There is chocolate, and then there is chocolate. Cowgirl chocolates really take chocolate to a different level, in a different direction. Cowgirl chocolates are spicy. When I bite into one, usually I am first struck by the quality of the chocolate - so fine it sort of shatters leaving no residue on your teeth. Then it melts and spreads on the tongue in a few seconds. The texture is smooth and the word 'fine' comes to mind again. The chocolate flavour is intense and luxurious. Then, after my first swallow there is this burst of spice like a flash of fire in the back of my mouth. Wow. Cowgirl chocolates come in a lot of flavours, my favourite is the spicy espresso dark chocolate - even though I don't drink coffee! It is just so dark and intense. I feel kind of stunned after one of those.

    • Endless possibilities

      The Sims

      03 September 2005

The Sims is the Number 1 PC Game of all time, but its public standing is not why I love ‘The Sims’. It is the private and endless possibility to personalise this game that has caught me and millions of others. Create your Sim. Dress them. Build them a house. Make them go to the loo. Get them a job. The PCs of the world are populated by these 'little people'. To Sim fans, their Sims are like a friend and or a child.

    • Feels like some one you know

      Anne of Green Gables

      05 September 2005

Anne of Green Gables is an immortal tale of a red haired orphan who is adopted by Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, even though she was not a boy! Anne is one of those characters that really touch the heart and become so real that they feel like some one you know. When I find a fellow Anne-fan, we usually fall excitedly into exchanges like "Do you remember when she dyed her hair?" "Do you remember the linanment cake incident?" - and these incidents seem like a shared memory. Anne has legions of fans around the world. People in Japan actually go all the way to Prince Edward Island, Canada where the stories are set to get married and have their wedding pictures taken with a portrait of Anne in the background! I read the Anne series (8 books in all) at least once every year.

    • Can't go too wrong liking this drink

      Amarula

      26 January 2006

Supposedly African elephants would shake the Marula tree and eat the fruit that fell out, getting gloriously drunk. Baboons like it too. Can't go too wrong liking this drink so highly recommended by these animals.

    • I fell in love with a place for the first time

      South Africa

      26 January 2006

I visited SA in 2003. For the first time in my life, I fell in love with a place. The landscapes and natural environment are incredible - the bluest sea, the clearest sky, the crisp dry air, the fascinating floral kingdoms, the incredible wildlife (drive yourself around Kruger National Park, and you'll see an animal every 10 meters). I hope that the beauty of the place will be there always.
