Sunday night television is filled with it's variety of programing, but one series of shows I continue to cherish is Masterpiece Theater, simply a rose in a sea of weeds.
Masterpiece Theater seeks to lift the words of some of history's greatest writers off paper and onto our television screen. And while some may say that could discourgage reading in it's own right, I say the opposite. I have discovered authors and novels due to masterpiece theater which I may never have heard of. With its recreation of the classic novels, and modern productions, as well as it's Mystery productions, Masterpiece Theater has something for everyone, young and old. Perhaps this is why it has survived for countless decades, and hopefully will for many more.
In our world of readily available pre-packaged toys, there is a wonderful feeling about creating something with your own hands, pouring hours of labor into a project with a wonderful result. These were my feelings after I finished creating my Original Rockford Red Heel Sock-Monkey. The art of red heel sock craft has been around for many decades, and the thought that I have created something which is unique and un-replicable is wonderful. It is charmingly reminiscent of past centuries when parents or children fashioned dolls or animals themselves, with old pieces or fabric, or even old socks. This will be an heirloom that I will be proud to pass down to my children and grandchildren, and will surely outlast any of the plastic brand label toys which line any store shelf.
