Microsoft suck the joy out of computing. Its not so much the look and feel of their products, it's the humourless bland way they approach what ought to be the most stimulating subject in the world. Sure, their new products are 400 times better than their old products, but thats only because their monopoly allows them to inflict sucky products upon most of the world.
This is not computing for the masses; it's a connoisseur’s 'brand'. Those of us who use Linux only use it because we truly love it. We love the freedom of being able to make it do, look and behave exactly as we want. No two Linux boxes look alike, and a Linux box is so much more of an extension of the users personality than any other sort of computer. Sure, it can be frustrating at times, infuriating even but this isn’t a superficial relationship. You get over the tough times with Linux and the romance is back on, but you've learnt much more you love it even more.
Nintendo have always been the single most inovative force in game-design. I love the fact that they are not content to churn out the 'same old' - every year brings the unexpected.
This sorry fading star that once shone so bright... Tivo have all but withdrawn from the UK, and my Tivo box may soon be replaced by machine from a rival manufacturer.
TIVO (I'm screaming now, in the hope they will hear me across the atlantic), PLEASE COME BACK, I HAVE MONEY AND I WANT TO SPEND IT ON YOU... PLEASE LOOK AT THE LOVELY MONEY. Of course, they are not listening - they are too busy contemplating their own doom to heed the millions like me who are desperate to buy their stuff!
