I have spent at least 6 months looking for a new pair of shoes - not just any shoes - good shoes, a shoe well made, a comfortable shoe, a shoe with style, a shoe made with love, a shoe I will never want to take off, a shoe that'll take me wherever my feet want to go - and sometimes they want to go a very long way... Where are those shoes? Not in Australia, that's for sure... I can think of only one shoe that will meet my needs a MINNIE COOPER shoe - it's in New Zealand - gotta go there, gotta get some.
Strangely repellant, unsettling, exploitive and weird. Reminds me of the chimpanzee tea parties in zoos in the fifties. I just don't get it, and doubt I ever will.
My Mum just visited from New Zealand. She heard my desperate cry for help from the land of the bad white loaf and brought 2 loaves of Vogels with her - she even declared it at customs and they let it in - I've waited nearly 4 years for that bread and I swear there is nothing as good as this with peanut butter and jam. When will you export to Australia Vogels? We need you.
My husband and I recently drove from Melbourne to Canberra to visit the VW exhibition at the National Gallery. When we walked into the main room I was immediately gripped by the feeling that I was witnessing beauty and craftswomanship that was not mortal. My chest and throat tightened, and so great was the emotion, I had to hold back tears. I spent most of my time in that room hoping no-one would talk to me because having to express myself in words would have felt clumsy and inappropriate. It was like church for garb loving heathens.
I believe that we are all connected, that human beings are all part of the same large family that populates the planet, we live on. It is inconceivable to me that this brand could be loved. The exploitation of sweat-shop staff in the third world is something I cannot reconcile. I feel as though the family deserves better than this. Let your conscience be your guide. Go on, just think about it.
Stop messing with good fruit. Feijoias are for lying on your back in the sun with a teaspoon under the tree and gorging until you can eat no more. And vodka...well that's another story. They don't go together. They bring out the worst in each other. It's just not right. I was given a bottle of this as a gift from New Zealand and I can't abide it. Free to a good home - true bro. Come and get it.
It's been with me through the darkest days. Bad jobs, bad haircuts, bad tv, bad news. If it's bad, it's seen me through. And the best thing? It's there with me when the going is good too. Good days, good news, good haircuts, good shoes. Oyster Bay Pinot Noir. If it was a woman, I'd swop sides. Get some, drink it, love it - you can't not.
Thank you Festival of V - In lush gardens you gave us the Pixies - LOUD - and Beck with puppets and spoons. There was corn on the cob - it ran out too soon, chai in the rain and awesome full moon (no logo on it - did you stick it on the dark side?) The seamless integration of the Virgin brand was impressive, convenient and mildly disconcerting. Virgin Blue’s package deal from Melbourne including accom/tickets/flights made everything so easy - except leaving - MORE TAXIS NEXT TIME so we don’t have to spend the hard-earned bribing taxi drivers... But the music’s what matters and that’s why I LOVE FESTIVAL OF V.
Gotta go there, gotta get some.

Yes, some sort of genius. He’s helped me realise my thoughts and opinions aren’t weird, just not usual....and that’s okay with me!
