Those of us of a certain age mourn the loss of this childhood candy. Available in Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry and Banana, in the most luscious unnatural colors, BTT lasted a long time and tasted great, but delivered psychological and emotional satisfaction as well. Childhood frustrations were released upon smacking the fresh-from-the-freezer taffy on the countertop, shattering the candy into hundreds of pieces.
Bonomo Turkish Taffy was purchased by the evil empire of candy, M&M, Mars, makers of Tootsie Rolls, I believe, and promptly did away with my childhood favorite. Too much competition, no doubt, for the chewy, insipid, what-is-that-flavor-anyway Tootsie.
