    • Completely won over

      Appalachia, USA

      11 March 2005

I'm a native Floridian now living in West Virginia, and I'm completely won over. There IS something special about this isolated land and the people who make their homes here.

    • The source for Southern literature

      The Oxford American

      17 March 2005

The magazine that bills itself as THE source for Southern literature, and I heartily agree. This Phoenix-like publication has been saved (and re-born) time and again through the loyalty of its readers and contributors... what demonstrates more love than that. It's now being published again, and all those who love the South and good writing are content once again.

    • Hard to resist your charms!

      Target

      15 December 2006

Ah, Target. I’m so torn with my love/hate for you. On one hand, you’re nothing but another big box retailer from the Wal-Mart book of closing down local mom and pops and not contributing much back to the local economies of the cities and towns in which you thrive. BUT..... Oh, your STUFF. Cool, affordable, awesome. You make it so hard to resist your charms! Ah, the moral dilemma!

    • You can find nearly anything

      Amazon.com

      15 December 2006

I’m so torn. There’s NO PLACE better to do on-line browsing for books, you can find nearly anything and the prices are great. But...I tend to want to do my buying at the independents with all their bricks and mortar quirkiness.

    • Beyond perfection

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (The)

      15 December 2006

You’ve got a scientist who is a super-intelligent shade of the color blue. That is beyond perfection.

    • The coolest thing about Sesame Street

      Grover

      15 December 2006

The coolest thing about Sesame Street. Grover is full of childlike innocence but also has his superhero dreams. He taught us that we do not need to speak in contractions. The older sketches with Big Blue where Grover is the waiter are the best. SS jumped the shark with Elmo - Grover was all the furry, cute cuddly monster we needed!

    • A glorious, gentle soul

      Mister Rogers

      15 December 2006

Children responded to Fred Rogers because his goodness and light shone out from his quiet, unassuming personality. Since his death, there have been so many stories about people that he helped personally. What a glorious, gentle soul. Can you imagine him on Nickelodeon? Nope! Not enough bright colors and loud noises. We aren’t likely to see his ilk again.

    • You were the best

      Independence Air

      15 December 2006

R.I.P. Independence. You were the best.

    • Everyday dishware perfection

      Fiestaware

      15 December 2006

A long illustrious history and those vibrant, stunning, gorgeous colors. Every time I’m in a restaurant that uses it, I enjoy my meal a bit more. It’s collected worldwide and used every day by millions. It’s affordable, durable and is made in the U.S. by the Homer Lauglin China Company in Newell, West Virginia. It’s everyday dishware perfection.

    • I am so happy whenever I see them on store shelves

      Seventh Generation

      16 December 2006

Finally! An environmentally safe, non-toxic line of home and health products! We are addicted to our use of paper products....toilet paper, paper towels, etc., and everyone needs detergent, cleaners and tampons, but the big corporations that make these items load them up with unnecessary chemicals that are dangerous to us and our environment. Seventh Generation allows you to buy these every day products without guilt and I am so happy whenever I see them on store shelves or see that a friend is using them at home - a PERFECT Lovemark!
