    • With passion

      Alfa Romeo

      31 August 2004

In '91 a friend of mine and I went to look at a Milano. Leaving the seller's house for a test drive, I cautiously drove towards the Blue Ridge Mountains, taking the time to familiarize myself with the vehicle. As I turned off the 4 lane highway and up the 2 lane mountain road, I ran the car to redline in 2nd, then 3rd and as I turned into the left hand sweeper told my friend, “I’m buying this car!” It wasn’t the fastest in a straight or curved line but it possessed something visceral that indicated a soul, something deep within its mechanical workings that said this car was built by people with passion, a passion for driving and a passion for living. As with many a car story, this one ended with the purchase of our first house but, I still miss that car today.

    • Food for the imagination!

      Cirque du Soleil

To relate it to business, this is really thinking "out of the box"! The creative energy, lack of restraint, and freedom of expression is awe inspiring. To combine such an avant-garde presentation with such precision and dedication is truly something to behold. If you haven't seen a show, go. Open your eyes and your mind and enjoy the ride. Call it food for the imagination!

    • Filling time until I found a Saab

      SAAB

I'm just now realizing the connections with family and Saab. My parents bought a '71 99 new and while I was only 4 I still remember picking it up at the dealer. The 99 was followed by a new ’86 9000S and then a new 900S in '89. They are now Saab-less. However, I recently bought a 9-5 wagon. I have a strange feeling of comfort now, as if my BMW and Audi exploits where filling time until I found a Saab. I find myself saying I should have bought one of these long ago. I can only hope the GM influence will not adversely affect the relationship or the cars. Seeing Saturn being pulled back under the pall of the GM umbrella doesn’t bode well for Saab I’m afraid.
