• Reminiscent of the old days

  This year my great-grandfather's restaurant will celebrate it's 100th anniversary in business. The food is delicious and the family-style atmosphere is romantic and reminiscent of the old days in that you sit in the main dining room with a few tables beneath the original tin ceiling dating back to the establishment in 1904. My great-grandfather left Italy in order to open his own business instead of slaving for the Italian royalty any longer. His sons also entered his business (my grandfather being one of them) and my father had his first job there as a boy waiting tables. One of my great-aunts still lives in the apartments above the restaurant and her sister's family still owns the bakery two doors down. My family still owns the building and the name, although the restaurant is run by a gentleman who also has his own restaurant in Little Italy.
