Evoking the kitschy style of a 1950s comic book or print ad, the syndicated cartoon This Modern World by Tom Tomorrow regularly deconstructs modern American society: the political scene (both Right AND Left...but mostly the Right); our unrelentingly acquisitive & insatiable consumer culture; that late 20th Century business school created chimera, the multinational entertainment-media-news corporation, complete with doublespeaking talking heads;...basically, all manner of pretensions in our modern world are targeted and in doing so, the American zeitgeist is accurately, if surreally, captured using a generous dose of vitriolic satire, intelligence, common sense, insight, and the occasional 'actual quote', usually thrown back in the speakers face to shock him back to reality. Oh, and did I mention that 'This Modern World' is very, very, funny ...it beats listening to talk radio.
