  Who would believe that the best sandwich selection in the world is being made by a Kiwi in Tokyo city! This is the place to hunt down on your next trip through Narita. (They have a Facebook page.) Being a Kiwi myself , I always check in on Mal to see what's cooking.

  Traveling on a ferry across the lake, a French tourist told me she was disappointed with the architecture. Looking out from the same boat it did not escape me that even more alarming are entire hiilsides covered in bright yellow flowering Australian Broom. Are Kiwis (the people) ruining this landscape? It breaks my heart!!

  My father used to work for N.W.Stevens in Upper Symonds St, Auckland, New Zealand. One of the lines of this distribution company was Kiwi Shoe Polish. They manufactured it on site in Saint Benedicts Street. I have memories of going into the factory on cold winter mornings to warm up, until overwhelmed by the smells. I though then it was the only place in the world where Kiwi was made.

  Being an expat in Germany, I have 'come around' and now admire my hosts for the way they have rebuilt their nation in the last 55 years to become a most comfortable place to live. Once branded, as they were, is a hard thing to change, but the generosity, earnestness, and clever designs of New Germany are most welcome in my life.
