Defines me for the year
Russh
12 October 2008
I can't explain it but I can't bear the thought of sharing the magazine with others!! I love January's issue about horoscopes and am always excited about what clothes they pair my star sign with...like it defines me for the year.
Everyone follows her every move
Britney Spears
20 October 2008
Ok lets admit it. She's not just a celebrity. Does not matter who hates her, who loves her, because everyone follows her every move. She makes constant headlines and she has the whole world criticizing, complimenting and discussing her actions. You just have to look on YouTube and you will see how passionate individuals are about this brand. Don't agree with me? I don't even have to say her last name and you know who I'm talking about.
Freedom, happiness, friendship
Insight Clothing
20 October 2008
Insight for me has the connotation of freedom, happiness, friendship, summer love and feeling hot hot hot! Everyone has their favourite new item of clothing they buy every summer. It's the one that gets thrashed. The one they put on for that special event. The one they seek to look ah-mazing in. The last six summers I have bought an item which I fall in love with for the rest of the year. The last six years I roadtrip over Xmas and New Years period with my girls and that item of clothing gets thrashed with wear over that holiday. The rest of that year the clothing item is worn but is always tainted with those holiday memories and feelings. Every year that peice of clothing is by chance an Insight item. And because of this, I crave this brand in the hope it will bring me more of those feelings.
Good food and marketing at its best
Hell Pizza
22 November 2008
The first time I had Hells was at Syn Bar in Wellington. Their first store catered the biggest and cheapest crumbed chicken nuggets. They were ah-maz-ing. Unfortunately, as they turned into a chain store some things obviously had to be compromised. Funnily enough even though I complain about the new size of the chicken nuggets to everyone I meet, I still also brag about how this small pizza chain is going to take over the world. All it took was a simple marketed theme and someone who got sick of eating Eagle Boys, Dominos and Pizza Hut. Good food and marketing at its best.
Won me over
Moleskine
22 November 2008
I have been searching around for a 2009 diary for the following year. My friend mentioned this Moleskine Diary she was itching to have and recomended it so much that we set a date to go get one each. The day before I encountered an old friend who had one. I skipped through hers and felt let down about what my friend had told me about it. Yes, it had beautiful smooth edges. Off white paper, simple design but it did not scream 'buy me'. That night I set off on my date, deciding that I would end up finding something more colourful and vibrant, more me. When we reached the bookshelf my mind changed completely. The first thing I noticed is the way the book marketed itself as a Lovemark. It was not just a diary. It was a place for you to impress your feelings, ideas, sketches, discoveries and perceptions on paper. The second, the history leaflet inside which associated Picasso and Van Gogh with itself. The third was that it was crafted for me. Handmade but replaceable with any sign of fault. Lastly the small thank you at the end which spoke to me and allowed me to feel as I was in the process of making such a beautiful design. All I can say is that wee booklet inside won me over. I HEART MOLESKINE DIARIES.
Where I see myself retiring
Wanaka, New Zealand
22 November 2008
A small town and an hour away from Queenstown. This place is where I see myself retiring. I runaway from studentville (Dunedin) every weekend in winter to enjoy the mountain slopes, the peaceful serenity of the lake, views and the relaxed lifestyle that the town has to offer. It has a famous pie shop on the lakefront, one supermarket and a well equipped skate park. The only fast food chain store it has is subway, creating a healthy environment for the community. I awake in the morning from a friends couch and find myself lucky to be staring at one of the worlds most beautiful views. Yes, the nightlife and the foreign travellers add to the towns appeal especially for someone as young as me but this just adds to the atmosphere and ambience to the Wanaka appeal. I love to brag about this town and how often I go there. Almost like it makes me "cool" whenever people find out I visit Wanaka in my weekends.
