  I thought perhaps someone should write on here the correct way to eat Vegemite. I heard that they promoted it in the US a long time ago, and it failed - they were probably just doing it wrong! The best way according to most of us is to apply butter or marg to your toast, however you like it. Then apply a very, very thin layer of Vegemite. Very thin. If you’ve never had it before, you want it to barely darken the bread. Just try it. You might convert! Like most other Aussies, I was weaned on the stuff. I used to have it thickly on toast, no butter, and so thick on crumpets it filled the holes! And another proof that Vegemite is a major part of Aussie life: Army ration packs have cans of the stuff!
