22 pairs of adidas sneakers - despite
adidas
10 August 2007
I own about 22 pairs of adidas sneakers - despite. I think it was Run DMC "My Adidas" that turned me on to them. The styling of the shoes is so much more appealing than Nike (though I do own a pair of Nike Air Rifts - my only non-adidas sneakers). Top of my list is the ZXZ Plus, which doesn’t seem to be released in the UK very often. I find my sneakers at pickyourshoes.com and ebay.com. The models released in the States tend to be a bit perkier than in the UK and, frankly, it is cheaper to buy the their and pay the shipping than to buy them here (even if you could find the styles). Why do I have so many adidas? Because I like to co-ordinate them with my extensive collection of Lyle and Scott knitwear and polos - colour is a "thing of mine".
I always know what to wear

I decided a while back that I wanted to simplify my life and stick to a single brand for casual wear. Ronnie Corbett inspired me to go for Lyle and Scott. The eagle on the chest is delightfully simple (and possibly a bit flash) and the sweaters, argyle or plain, and polos are reasonably priced quality bits of kit. Now I always know what to wear, I just have to decided the colour combo (to co-ordinate with my adidas sneaks).
Priceless!
Teleferico Madrid

Only a couple of months ago I got to go on the Teleferico. I used to live in Madrid in the early 70s right by where it sets of over the Casa de Campo. It is truly a wonderful experience rattling along in a little cable car over the beautiful and somewhat wild Casa de Campo. I would suggest getting on it in the morning and taking a picnic out to the centre of the park and then having a leisurely lunch before returning through the air to Madrid. Priceless!
Just really impractical
Strida

I am returning the Strida I bought. They suggest that you can be 6’4 and ride it but this is simply untrue. I’m 6’2 and my knees hit the handlebars as I peddled. Moving the seat makes little difference as the frame shape precludes really moving the seat. I am sure if you are shorter it would be ok but I have to give the thumbs down on the basis of misleading marketing. I guess if you are really determined to ride it you could but then I can ride a children’s tricycle at a push, it’s just really impractical.
A folder that you can actually ride!

I have had one of these for ages. I tried the Strida and it was a disaster. This is a folder that you can actually ride!
