I love it because it stirred my imagination
2000 AD

2000 AD is a weekly British sci-fi anthology comic that I’ve read since I was 7. The most famous character in its pages is fascist future lawman Judge Dredd (who you may know from the rubbish Sly Stallone film). Although it’s always had an element of satire, 2000 AD has grown with its readers, with more mature, sophisticated storylines and art. I love it because it stirred my imagination as a child and it still does so now.
Completely hooked
The Sopranos

I caught onto the Sopranos very late – my wife and I watched the first five seasons on DVD last summer, often watching 3 or 4 episodes a night. We were, as you can tell, completely hooked. Why? The scripts are superb, the acting is uniformly brilliant and the narrative is as free-flowing, random and amoral as real life. There is brutal violence and there are some really nasty characters, but they don’t get their comeuppance or ‘learn to be better people’. There’s no redemption for anyone. Again, just like real life…
