    • A lullaby in a book

      Goodnight Moon

      06 November 2006

The illustrations in this book captured my imagination as a child - following the mouse around in his own little world was just fascinating. And there is something about the little old lady whispering "hush" that just makes it the perfect goodnight story. A lullaby in a book, really...

    • I didn't find this product intuitive

      iPod

      06 November 2006

I have been told I’m the only person who doesn’t love iPods, but I see here I am not alone! The thing is, I do love Apple and their commitment to usability and design, etc. But I didn’t find this product intuitive, and would have never managed to figure out how to use the thing and sync it if I hadn’t worked in an office full of techies.

    • Vacation and Hampton have become virtually synonymous

      Hampton Inn

      06 November 2006

The words vacation and Hampton have become virtually synonymous in our household - the kids LOVE it. It meets all their criteria for a favorite hotel. A pool, and breakfast - with all the things mom and dad won’t buy like Fruit Loops and donuts. And the funny thing is, last time I stayed at a "luxury" hotel sans kids, I missed a few things about the Hampton. Like coffee in the lobby 24/7. And free, wireless, internet. I also appreciate the recent redesign which is carried all the way through to the thoughtfulness of the clock radios with presets for different types of music or the option to bring your own tunes. Gotta love it.

    • I love their committment

      Life Is Good

      18 May 2007

Jake - the character that graces every Life Is Good product - has an infectious smile. And that’s a pretty amazing thing for a stick figure! I love that people smile when they see him...I love their tagline - "Do what you love - love what you do". And I love their committment to giving back to the community. But it’s more than all that - this brand resonates with people in an inexplicable way. Just read the stories - it’s impossible not to be moved.

    • I love Twitter!

      Twitter

      18 May 2007

I love Twitter! I am not the first person to adopt new technology and didn’t know quite what to think when I was introduced to the product. But I gave it a try and have been pleasantly surprised by its forced simplicity (condense your musing into 140 characters) and the easy way you fall into staying connected with friends - without any overhead! Nothing to customize - you just type. Via the web, IM, your cell phone - so you can always be in touch. Technology has finally achieved something easy and fun. I love it!

    • Simplifying things and saving my sanity!

      Buttoned Up

      18 May 2007

I love anything that makes life simpler, and Buttoned Up has a whole line of products that do that! My current favorite is the Moving.kit. Even though it’s designed for a home move, it is working wonderfully well to organize my business move! Allows me to easily delegate the bazillion service coordination calls and change of address letters that go with moving. And it provides checklists so I can keep an eye on the progress. Yeah! for simplifying things and saving (what is left of) my sanity!

    • A fun way to find internet access

      Plazes

      29 May 2007

I love Plazes because it is a fun way to find internet access and kindred spirits while traveling - whether home or abroad. Based on your address (or latitude and longitude) you can plot the place you're at. Add pictures and reviews, and you have a Plaze! Via the web or SMS, you can discover plazes near you, contacts near you, or let your friends know where you're at. And if you've ever wondered your average speed of travel, Plazes figures that out for you, too.

    • A solid 5 star review

      Grover

      29 May 2007

There are a couple of books from my childhood that I just about know by heart, and "The Monster At the End of This Book" happens to be one of them. A quick check of Amazon reveals I’m not the only one - it gets solid 5 star reviews and is included in both the Little Golden Book "Classic Collection" and "Best Loved Little Golden Books" boxed set. The story is imaginative, full of drama, and virtually requires enthusiastic participation - making it a sure hit for kids and parents alike!

    • An amazingly useful tool!

      Jaiku

      11 October 2007

This has got to be the fastest growing website on the planet since its acquisition by Google earlier this week. People (like me :-) love Jaiku because it aggregates all the other social media tools that have become integral parts of our lives. (Just don’t ask me to pronounce it). Jaiku is a cool thing because you can now point a friend to one place, and give them access to the many other aspects of you that make up your life online. It’s like an online business card. An amazingly useful tool!

    • Awesome service - Awesome company

      Salesforce

      03 November 2007

I've been in love with Salesforce almost as long as my husband :) Seriously though, I've been an entrepreneur for most of the last 12 years, and had used a couple of contact management systems before Salesforce came on the scene. The beauty of on-demand software was not lost on a person who had been through the pain of databases that weren't *really* built to be multi-user. Salesforce was a godsend. It has been fun to watch Salesforce grow from 3 tabs into the sophisticated tool it is today. More than once they have implemented exactly the new feature that we needed, when we needed it - and as an entrepreneur there are few things to love more than getting a better tool without getting a bigger bill. Another reason to love Salesforce is for their big heart. They give back a tremendous amount to the community through a foundation that managed gifts and volunteers to non-profits around the world. And CEO Mark Benioff evangelizes the practice of the triple bottom line, encouraging other companies to follow their lead. Awesome service - Awesome company.

    • Creating the moments you live for

      Detroit Tigers

      30 June 2008

There is nothing like going to a Tiger game to make you feel like a kid again. We went to an awesome game last night where they came back to win in the bottom of the 9th, surely because we were all wearing our rally caps and cheering our hearts out even as it started to rain. Before the game, we rode the baseball-themed ferris wheel and my memory of my youngest son's huge smile only half-filled with teeth will be me forever...Along with my oldest son's high-fives with Dad at the end of the game. I love Tigers games because they have a way of creating the moments you live for as a parent. If you haven't been - go!

    • We'll be back

      Mackinac Island

      25 September 2008

When it's time for summer vacation, the kids ask "When are we going to Mackinac Island?!" We have been many times, but this year was our first overnight stay on the island, and I could honestly nominate it for a "priceless" campaign. There just aren't too many places near home you can go and be away from cars - where you know the kids are always safe, and you can live life at a different pace. On the one day tours, we always felt compelled to pack everything in - the fudge, the 8 mile bike ride around the island, the fort tour, etc - and would come back exhausted. Staying two days revealed a whole different Mackinac, and now has the kids pining for a whole week the next time around. We'll be back - we all love Mackinac Island!
