Makes damn fine milk punch!
Maker's Mark

It is not wrong to love a bottle of bourbon. Especially one that was so eloquently enjoyed by Norman Osbourne. Plus, it makes damn fine milk punch!
The soundtrack to my life
Neil and Tim Finn
02 September 2006
From Split Enz to Crowded House, the Finns have been the soundtrack to my life since 1982. They are the musical equivelent of a master painting, simple but elegant.
It looks original in a nostalgic way
Scion

Okay, tease me all you want about my BOX...oops, that sounds dirty! What I meant to say is: when I am zipping past gas stations, laughing maniacally at the drivers of the SUV's pumping more fuel into their "babies", you can sneer all you want at the BOX. The Scion XB looks original in a nostalgic way, and you have to love a mode of transporation that costs less than a full round of liposuction.
THE smartest thing on tv
Stephen Colbert
19 February 2007
If you’re alive and intellegent and NOT watching "The Colbert Report", then you deserve to be mauled by the bears Colbert finds so frightening. Acerbic and pungently funny, Colbert treads the line between satire and social commentary like he’s channeling the combined ghosts of Spalding Gray and Edward R. Murrow. I don’t know what the hell that means, but I enjoy "The Word" and watching uncomfortable conservatives squirm in their chairs as Colbert grills them in his trademark, deadpan kamikaze fashion. THE smartest thing on tv right now.
Beautifully melded
Indigo Girls
27 March 2007
These two fine artists are the female answer to Neil and Tim Finn...beautifully melded, voices singing the musical equivalent of an Ann Beattie novel: memorable characters, soulful back stories and stunning narrative. My heart simultaniously breaks and fills with joy when I listen to one of their songs. Plus, kudos to them for being real and not being afraid to push social buttons, from smoke-free concerts to social awareness, I am awed by their talent and convictions.
This brand just screams AMERICAN
Nathan's Famous
01 April 2007
As a native Chicagoan, it is almost criminal that I enjoy Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs so much...I say lock me up and throw away the key! From the delightfully cheesy annual 4th of July Hot Dog Eating contest they run every year (man, that Takeru Kobayashi can eat!), to the wonderful history of their Coney Island location, this brand just screams AMERICAN. The flavor is just right, with not too many spices to overwhelm the beef, and these dogs taste just as wonderful boiled as they do staright off of the grill. Though I do have a twinge of guilt when I pass over the local Chicago favorite in the grocer’s case to grab a pack of Nathan’s, the guilt quickly washes away when I get to eat one. Of course, I do this all in disguise....
The most anticipated day of the week
Heroes
09 September 2007
If you like comic books, you might be a nerd, but you are also most likely a fan of "Heroes", the most engaging, orginial tv show to hit the air in a long time. From Flying Man, to Hiro, to that brain-munching maniac Sylar, these characters play out storylines with unique, smart humor and insane twists and turns which makes Monday the most anticipated day of the week. Plus, how can one not like a show that features both the intense gaze of Adrian Pasdar and the likeable normalcy of Greg Grunberg? Both actors shine here. Save the cheerleader, save the world...and save my Monday nights for this great, unique show.
