You know that relaxed euphoria of coming home after a long day and just dropping onto the couch, putting your feet up, and having yourself a nice cold beer? That's how I feel whenever I open the door to Room. I've had the pleasure of calling it my second home for six years now and am sad I will be leaving Madison soon and will have to find my way without it. I've known Room as a customer, employee, and sometimes volunteer. I can't say enough good things about the store, the staff, or the BOOKS! Did I mention the BOOKS, as they've got quite a few for you to poke around in. Oh, so sad to say good bye to one of my top ten places to go when I don't know what else to do with myself.
I had never heard of H&M until about a year ago when my sister was hired on as a manager to one of their stores. I came to visit her at her new job and have been hooked ever since. And just when I decide to move to another city, H&M decides to open one in my area! Grrr...
I owe my current obsession and well-tailored barista skills to Stone Creek. I began my coffee career as a junior in high school at the Stone Creek in Whitefish Bay and I still always make a stop in whenever I'm back home. Aside from having the best coffee around, the people that make Stone Creek work are the most down to earth, compassionate and generous people I've had the pleasure of knowing. From their Community Coffee program where they donate a percentage of sales (or coffee) to a local area non-profit, to the day to day individual interactions with their customers, I've developed a strong affinity for this local independent coffee roaster.
