As a local I use Jo-Jos a lot (When you can get in) Its a great place to eat and the food is excellent. As an idea of the type of people who run it, my son and I turned up at 2:30 on a Friday lunchtime recently to find that they had stopped cooking for the afternoon and were in the process of closing up, but they sat us down and served us a complete meal which was most enjoyable and greatly appreciated. Nothing is too much trouble, so you can see why we like it there. Looking forward to it opening later this year.
Cafe Mundo is a little bit of Portugal at number 75 Tonbridge Road leading out of Maidstone. The food is great, the coffee excellent and the guy that runs it works his socks off. Tried it once and whenever I am local to Maidstone, I go back there. Try the chicken escalope with salad in a bap or if you want a breakfast. Try the number 1 they go up to a number 4 (if you can manage it). They also serve tapas and you can buy Portuguese products there. Try the frozen Calamari. Never been dissappointed.
