Wayne Rooney
27 May 2006
A international footballing phonomenon that inspite of worldwide recognition at such a young age, has managed to keep both feet firmly grounded. He carries the hope of a nation on his young shoulders and bears the weight well. God bless ya!
A visionary
Norman Foster
07 November 2006
Because he is a visionary, who see’s beyond boundaries. Always striving to build better structures and better solutions. And for the Millau Viaduct in France, the most beautiful structure ever, which allows you to drive through the clouds.
A thing of pure beauty
Helvetica
07 November 2006
Helvetica is probably the most loved and respected typeface of all time not to mention the most widely used. She is a thing of pure beauty. Helvetica was developed by Max Miedinger with Eduard Hoffmann in 1957 for the Haas Type Foundry in Munchenstein, Switzerland. In the late 1950s, the European design world saw a revival of older sans-serif typefaces such as the German face Akzidenz Grotesk. Haas’ director Hoffmann commissioned Miedinger, a former employee and freelance designer, to draw an updated sans-serif typeface to add to their line. The result was called Neue Haas Grotesk, but its name was later changed to Helvetica, derived from Helvetia, the Latin name for Switzerland, when Haas’ German parent companies Stempel and Linotype began marketing the font internationally in 1961. Introduced amidst a wave of popularity of Swiss design, and fueled by advertising agencies selling this new design style to their clients, Helvetica quickly appeared in corporate logos, signage for transportation systems, fine art prints, and myriad other uses worldwide. Inclusion of the font in home compter systems such as the Apple Macintosh in 1984 only further cemented its ubiquity.
The greatest and most respected method actor
Robert DeNiro
07 November 2006
The greatest and most respected method actor of all time. The man who with one facial expression can make your blood turn cold or your heart melt. No one is better.
The ultimate salesman
Santa Claus
07 November 2006
What can you say about Santa - the ultimate brand mark and the ultimate salesman. The brand that all other brands love. Why? Because their sales increase at Christmas time. Santa teases money from your pocket with a wink and a smile, and we love him for it!!
Simple, functional yet beautiful
Barcelona chair
07 November 2006
One of the most simple, functional yet beautiful chairs ever designed. Created by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the German Pavilion at the 1929 Barcelona Exposition, the Barcelona chair features the pure compositional structure that now epitomizes Modern architecture. He has captured exactly how furniture should be, functional, elegant and comfortable with understated quality. A timeless classic.
From the ashes rose the great team
Manchester United
07 November 2006
I think the beginning of the Manchester United love affair with football was born after the Munich Air disaster. When so many of the great teams at the height of their powers died. So many people felt a great loss that evening as they were so respected within the world game. But from the ashes rose the great team of the Busby Babes, and so many people followed their progress from then on. And needless to say they have been quite successful since then!!
Their words say it all
The Beatles
07 November 2006
No more needs to be said, listen to the music and their words say it all. All you need is love.
Continues to exceed our expectations
Apple
07 November 2006
I fell in love with Apple in 1988 when I had an LCII, which when you look back was an awful beige colour like many PC’s still are today!! Apple have since moved on quite successfully from LCII and led the way for others to follow ever since. They continue to exceed our expectations of both technology and design. And they still remain my favourite lovemark to this day.
Decorating products that just work!
Fat Hog
06 December 2007
Fat Hog is a range of professional decorating products that just work!! They look dynamic and modern and are a break from the stuffy traditional products available to professional decorators. These products are a breath of fresh air in a market that was stuck in the past. They utilise both new and existing technology to make the usually painful process of decorating a lot easier.
Significantly enhances our lives
iPhone
06 December 2007
Yet again Apple have created a product which significantly enhances our lives and pushes it’s competitors to not only build better product, but also to improve their levels of customer service and satisfaction. Buying a product from Apple has always been a pleasure and the iPhone has not disappointed me yet! It’s simplicity and usability is it’s strength, more so than it’s technological advances. To many companies focus on individual innovation but have terrible usabilty and awful looking devices that are confusing. They have shown the world that people want things that just work. Apple just design the best products around. Can't wait to see what they come up with next!
You will not be disappointed
Versus Cancer
06 December 2007
This is a cancer charity started by Andy Rourke of The Smiths. It raises money by staging concerts in cities around the world. I went to the Manchester gig which featured Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, The Charlatans and Ian Brown to name a few. If you ever get chance to go to a VC gig you will not be disappointed.

A footballing Portuguese god! The next big footballing/fashion icon following the footsteps of Brand Beckham!
