I fight the future
X-Files (The)
08 February 2004
I fight the future and trust no one because I want to believe that the truth is out there. The X-Files is the pinnacle of Sci-Fi genius. It ran for 9 extraordinary seasons and it broke boundaries with every new episode. It is a pop culture icon in over 200 countries. The X-Files certainly deserves all the praise it receives! The X-Files will never close.
Shades of the Wizard of NZ?
J.R.R. Tolkien & Lord Of The Rings
25 March 2004
Hobbits and elves and men, oh my! Dwarfs and wizards and Gollum, oh my! A story of overcoming obstacles and finding love, Lord of the Rings has leapt gracefully from page to screen. Tolkien's genius is matched only by the magic of Jackson's mind.
The gadgets rule
James Bond
19 April 2004
I wanna be a Bond girl! Who wouldn't? The 007 filcks are a statement about modern society -- everyone wants to be a kick-ass spy. Not only is James Bond good looking and smart, the gadgets rule. Sean Connery and Peirce Brosnan are the best 007's and I hope there are many more movies in the series. Bond, James Bond.
Schoooczing?
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
19 April 2004
Can anyone actually spell shoooczing? The Fab Five redefined a network and helped a few straight men along the way - I love Queer Eye for the Straight Guy!
You can't lose
Star Wars
19 April 2004
Love Star Wars, I do. Yoda Rules! Set the scene. Yoda is in an epic battle for the lives of all peoples. He throws down the cane, pulls out the light saber, and kicks some Dooku butt! The actors, scenes, characters, and music come together, add the genius of Geogre Lucas and you can't lose.
Now I am a true fan
Spiderman
19 April 2004
Spider-Man, Spider-Man does whatever a spider can....and a whole lot more! I was always a Superman fan, but when the movie came out I got persuaded to go see it. I loved it! I started reading up on the backstory and about the creator, and now I am a true fan.
In the truest sense of the word
Harry Potter
19 April 2004
I read the first Harry Potter Book before it became popular, by the time the 2nd one came out it was a phenomenon! I am a Harry fanatic in the truest sense of the word - my room is covered in posters, I have read the books a million times each, and I go to the first showing of every movie in costume! lol I love it!
I wish I lived in a pineapple
SpongeBob SquarePants
18 July 2004
Doesn't everyone wish they lived in a pineapple? I know I do! Spongebob has become such an obsession for so many people of all ages, that it is almost scary. I love Spongebob because it is very simplistic and easy to like. Gary rules! Meow!
A sound unlike any other
No Doubt
29 July 2004
There is only one thing to say: No Doubt is THE BEST BAND EVER!! The guys and gal from No Doubt brought ska, rock, electronica, and pop music into a package with expressive eyes, big red lips, and an attitude that goes on for days; Gwen! After 15 years, millions of albums sold, and a sound unlike any other No Doubt launched the world into a tailspin.
Love, loss, and total hotness
Roswell
30 July 2004
Roswell premiered and taught all who watched a lesson: falling for an alien was undoubtedly cool! Especially if he is as hot as Jason Behr. Newcomers Jason Behr, Shiri Appleby, Brendan Fehr, Majandra Delfino, Nick Weschler, Katherine Heigl, and Colin Hanks (Tom Hanks' son) were joined by veterans William Sadler and John Doe to help bring the magic of aliens to life. Love, loss, and total hotness were prerequisites.
Let loose on the unsuspecting public...
Dark Angel
02 May 2005
Max + Logan = Love for Life!!! Dark Angel was a completely original, completely kick ass take on what the world would be like if worldwide devastation of our electronic world were to come to pass. James Cameron did a great job portraying a world of fear, greed, and most importantly, genetic hybrids made to be the perfect soldiers and then let loose on the unsuspecting public. Ladies and gentlemen say hello to the Manticore Transgenics. Max just wants to fit in and find love. Can't a girl catch a break?
Delivers the heartstopping action
Alias
08 September 2005
I mainly have two words: Michael Vartan. This show showed its chops from the first episode, never slowing down. The fight scenes kick butt, no pun intended, and the dynamic between the characters is tangible. From SD6 to APO, there is no denying - Alias delivers the heartstopping action.
The Beatles started a revolution in music
The Beatles
08 September 2005
The Beatles is the single most influencial band of all time. Their music still tops the charts, even 20 years after the band ceased to be. When each of the members of a band are pop-culture icons, you know a band is worthy of being a Lovemark. The Beatles started a revolution in music that is still bring fought today.
Stronger than love itself...
Superman
08 September 2005
"Superman sure did love that Lois Lane they say, And love as strong as steel should last forever. But it seems to me that love got in the way. This love should be glorified whenever, Like a bullet moving the speed of light, The hero of my tale comes into view. With all his strength and all his might, Their inability to love was shown anew. Lois Lane, the brilliant journalist, Could not deny her feelings, Her love that roared on like a tempest, For a man who flew above the ceilings. In the end the strongest love Soared high into blue skies above." Dedicated to Christopher Reeve: The Ultimate Superman The Superman franchise shows the world a great love and a great man--a man who knew that saving the world came with self-sacrifice. Superman is the greatest hero of all time.
He has the writing genius of Shakespeare
Andrew Lloyd Webber
08 September 2005
Andrew Lloyd Webber has written some of the most influential musicals of our time. He has the writing genius of Shakespeare and the musical genius of Mozart. The Phantom of the Opera is still the most seen musical in America, and it shows.
I watched it religiously every week
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
08 September 2005
Who would have thought that teen show about a pretty girl chosen to destroy the forces of evil would ever become legend. Not me! But I watched it religiously every week, along with millions of other fans. The show was so popular it had its own spin-off in Angel, and it was a big hit. That is very rare. Joss Whedon and his merry band of writers laced drama with comic wit and pop culture. I mean spidey-sense, come on...classic.
You respect the athletic greatness he presents
Andre Agassi
08 September 2005
If you play tennis, you watch Andre. Even if you don't like him, you watch him because you respect the athletic greatness he presents. Even now, after all these years on the circut, Agassi is still slamming overheads into a new generation of tennis fans. He is my favorite player and one of the best of all time. Not only is he great on the court, but he is a philantropist to the "the alleys".
He inspired a new generation
Christopher Reeve
16 September 2005
Christopher Reeve is one of the bravest men of all time. He used his celebrity status for the good of mankind, not the good of himself. He overcame huge odds to begin to fight his handicap, and the world was awed when he vowed that he would walk again, no matter what he was told. Although he never reached his goal of mobility, he inspired a new generation to aid people with similar handicaps. His foundation raised millions of dollars for stem cell research and other breakthroughs. Even if you do not agree with his point of view, you resppect the lengths he had to go to just to get up in the morning. The world mourned the day he died, and I, for one, will always consider Christopher Reeve to be the one, true Superman!
Little Rock is one of my favorite songs
Colin Raye
19 September 2005
"I think I'm on a roll here in Little Rock/ Steady as a stone, baby wait and see/ I got just one small problem here in Little Rock/ Without you, baby I'm not me" Colin Raye's haunting, fun, sad, and happy lyrics and music sets him apart from others. Little Rock is one of my favorite songs and one of the best songs ever.
Great band, great hair
Counting Crows
19 September 2005
Great band, great hair. Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz is a genius of epic proprtions. His singing/songwriting abilites are amazing. Very few bands have held on through thick and thin like the Crows, and they are still recognized as a groundbreaking band.
A universal laughriot
Desperate Housewives
13 October 2005
Who would have thought that a TV show could make everyone so 'desperate'? With its witty dialogue and sarcastic characters, DH is a pop culture phenomenom. I love Bree; she is so callous, but she doesn't even see it. Edie should be locked away for the sake of all of the marriages on Wisteria Lane. And Mary Alice is the best TV narrator ever. Props to Marc Cherry for getting in touch with his feminine side and creating a universal laughriot.
Entertaining and talented
Aerosmith
25 March 2006
Aerosmith is one of the greatest bands of all time. The key to their success is, in my opinion, their frontman Steven Tyler. Genius! They are entertaining and talented and I think they will last for many more years.
A definite step above the original
Battlestar Galactica
25 March 2006
Yeah, buddy! Battlestar Galactica is the best show on television today. Smartly written plot twists and gripping characters always keep fans guessing. A definite step above the original and a first-class drama. Apollo + Starbuck = soulmates!!!
Humanitarian rock-star
Bono
22 September 2006
Humanitarian rock-star. Not exactly your average title. Bono is not only one of the greatest musicians of all time, but he is considered to be one of the most generous philantropists alive today. He tied The Gates' for Time's Person of the Year. He has won numerous Grammys. If you ask me, that makes him worthy of a spot on this list.
If you haven't read her books yet, DO IT!!!
Janet Evanovich
26 October 2006
If you haven’t read her books yet, DO IT!!! You’ll roll on the floor, fall in love with the characters, sympathize with Stephanie Plum, and realize that Ranger is the greatest literary character OF ALL TIME!!! Her writing is funny, smart, sarcastic, moving, and relatable. And did I mention Bestselling?
It's a staple to everyone
Texas Stadium
14 January 2007
As a life-long Metroplex resident there are a few things that you just know...Billy Bob’s Texas, Reunion Tower, The JFK Museum/Grassy Knoll, The Texas State Fair, and Texas Stadium. It’s like "DUH!!!" It’s a staple to everyone....especially a Cowboys fan like me!!!
GENIUS!!!
Hugh Laurie
14 January 2007
I blame my family for making me watch House. I kept hearing it was such a good show blah, blah, blah. Finally I got tired of the nagging and I rented the first season. GENIUS!!! Hugh Laurie has always done good work, he just doesn’t get much appreciation here in the States. The performance that he gives as Dr. Gregory House is the best I think I have EVER seen. In anything. Seriously. He’s the hottest fake cripple I know...
Eyebrows - and everyone knows who he is
Peter Gallagher
14 January 2007
Eyebrows. That’s really all you have to say and everyone knows who he is. From Broadway to the O.C.. From While You Were Sleeping to Center Stage, Peter Gallagher has had a greatly varied career. Let’s hope he keeps it up for a long time.
Colbert is gold
Stephen Colbert
24 March 2007
Stephen Colbert is a GOD! Not really, but these days it’s close enough. He has become a highly respected comedian, and the only thing funnier than his jokes is when he laughs at himself. His ability to keep a straight face in incredible, but even the best slip up sometimes. His biting social commentary and sarcastic interviews keep millions of people hooked to the Colbert Report every night. Even President Bush agrees....Colbert is gold.
Musical gold
Genesis
24 March 2007
Genesis is one of the greatest bands of all time, and although I am partial to the Phil Collins years, every album is musical gold. My father was their first lighting designer and my family is still friends with the band. With the reunion tour right around the corner, people are realizing that Genesis’ reign isn’t over yet. Thanks guys for the great work and for one of the most inventive stage shows ever preformed. Can’t wait for Turn It On Again...
Props, Stephen, props
Stephen Colbert
18 June 2007
Funny as hell. Can you say that on Lovemarks? It’s true, though. Stephen Colbert is one of the funniest men alive and one of the most irreverant. He is funny when he’s serious and he’s funny when he’s funny...and funniest when he’s trying to keep a straight face. The Colbert Report is the one show that I can watch everyday and not get tired of it. Props, Stephen, props.
One of the most original shows in TV history
House MD
18 June 2007
A show about the meanest, nastiest, most irreverant doctor in the world that went on to be a crittically-acclaimed smash hit? Doesn’t seem likely...until it happened. House is one of the most brilliant and most original shows in TV history. Hugh Laurie’s portrayal of the snarky doctor is fabulous, and lovable. And that’s the appeal. He’s cantankerous but you still want him to solve the mystery and get the girl. The immortal character you hate to love and love to hate.
