Clangers

A series screened on BBC about a family of knitted aliens eking out a threadbare existence on a bleak and cold world. Made by Smallfilms (who also made Bagpuss) Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin's series started in November 1969, just four months after NASA's moon landing.

    They live on the moon. They're pink. They're knitted. If you know what I'm talking about you also know the magic and enjoyment that they conjured up on the BBC back in the 1970s. I loved their hoots, their dustbin lids, their clouds. By gum - I even liked the soup dragon!!
