  • Everything I ever dreamed

In May 2004, I wrote a Lovemark for the Volkswagen Beetle. At that stage, I didn't have one, but had desperately wanted one FOREVER. And now, finally, after more than four years, and a baby, I've got one! A little cyber green Beetle called Lucy! And she is everything I ever dreamed!!! Thank you to my gorgeous man who sold the car of his dreams so I could have the car of mine!

  • I nominate it for number one

Surely the classic VW Bug should stand as the number one Lovemark of all time. It was cramped, noisy, ugly, dangerous, smelly and over-priced, yet people swore by them, called it the Love Bug, elevated it to cult status like no other car in the world. While it may already have been nominated, I nominate it for number one.

  • So much more

The VW Camper is so much more than a vehicle for getting from A to B. It's a feeling, a way of life and an embracing of the world around us. It's a way of raising a smile from children on the pavement, of waving to other Camper or Beetle drivers on the road, of always having an escape option after a long week at work. You will never meet someone with a VW Camper who hasn't given it a name. And refers to their VW Camper as 'he' or 'she'. Every Camper becomes a person, and that's a connection most brands can't touch.

  • Stay loyal

Everyone who owns or has owned a VW has a VW story to tell. Although at times a temperamental machine, its easy to fall in love with a VW and stay loyal for the rest of your life.

  • Now I just need an old school bug in hot pink

My LuvBug looks just like the one in the picture! I grew up always wanting one, and when I heard they were reissuing the bug, I had to have it. There has never been a more fun car, that gets more smiles, more waves, more friendly honks than this little jewel. And the cool factor (especially when it comes to kids) cannot be overexpressed. I've never owned anything that makes me so happy. It isn't cheap to get it fixed, granted. But it's great on gas mileage, I can turn on a dime, parallel park like a professional, and it's great in the snow. Now I just need an old school bug in hot pink so I have boy and a girl.

  • Mildly aspirational, yet accesible

I've only owned two cars in my 24 years on this planet and both, I'm very proud to say, have been Volkswagens! My first was a silver 1995 Golf and my current is a blue 2000 Golf Turbo. I can't get enough of the VW brand. It sits itself perfectly in the marketplace - a friendly faced Lovemark that is mildly aspirational, yet accesible so as to not be perceived as elitist. I can't imagine not owning a VW. I don't know where or when my obsession started, but I'm damn glad that it did!

  • I knew it would be my car

Ever since I was very little, watching Herbie the Love Bug and playing SlugBug with my brothers and sister, I have wanted a VW. At first it was a Bug, then in my "neo-hippie" phase in high school, I would scour the Sunday paper for VW Vans... and when I saw the very first New Beetle, I fell in love. When the Turbo came out, I knew it would be my car. And it is! "Turbie" is a 2001 Turbo Sport... in Silver. My boyfriend loves Bugs too. He drives a 97 Jetta VR6. When we get a house, we are going to rebuild an old bug together.

  • I love that car, son of a VW

My father's first car. An old German open air beetle. Green, strong, fun, amfibious, original design, fun to drive. A simple transport, great friend. A family member. The first ad I'd seen. The copies I wanna write. Ufff. I love that car, son of a VW.

  • The best promotion I ever saw for any car

In my opinion, Volkswagen did the best promotion I ever saw for any car when they decided to sell the POLO in France many years ago. I will never forget this funny and also realistic clip: Garage doors open and a lot of shepps (big toys) were rolled out to join very intensive traffic in the city. Only the POLO had such a fresh, new and light look that this car was completely differentiated in the automotive traffic mass. And also today in my work, I try to find out how to make the differentiation with competitors' products: emotionally, constructively and in a funny way.

  • We of the VW cult...

I've been branded from birth with Volkswagons, they are my past, present and future. An heirloom both physical and emotional, my 1967 Bug is one in a long line of family cars. We of the VW cult drive to a different tune, often forsaking luxuries (like electric windows and heat!) to be true to our simpler selves. "Driver's Wanted" ... spread the word!
