Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is a television show that aims to "building a better straight man". In the series, five gay men use their professional expertise to deconstruct their subject's current lifestyle.

Every week they smack all of us with Lovemarks!
Love can be offensive to some folks, I guess. Every week these humorous, creative men work together to help someone know himself better and live his life in a healthier more mature way. At the end of the shows I've seen, the recipients of the Fab 5's attention praise and thank them with poetry, songs, tears of gratitude. At the heart of gay education is to get past the" identity" issue and look to the ancient wisdom, "By their fruits you shall know them. " The effects of these gay men, self-proclaimed "fruits," on the lives of those they meet are empathy, joy, and love. Every week the Fab 5 smack all of us with Lovemarks!

I have empathy!
This show is offensive and down-heartening to me, not because I'm sheltered, but because it is a mockery of what a person, to the core, is. I cannot bear to think this show has gained such popularity. If anything, it captures the post-modernist view of Truth - lacking "acceptance" and "humanism" that is running rampant across this nation. Not to say that I am anti-gay. Is it credibility and empathy that will make my view seem less harsh and attacking? I have empathy! I came from a psychological battle with the same struggle. I am not writing in order to proliferate any right-wing, Christian, hard-nosed political statement. I am only voicing my concern for the image that is being presented to the common public about what defines a human. And I will tell you, having been down that road, homosexuality (being "gay") does not identify who we are.

A wonderful blending of talent
I am weekly thunderstruck by the talent of these five men. Jai has the hardest - but ultimately most rewarding job by helping guide the subject to his "better angels." Thom is unmatched with his breathtaking eye for detail. Carson is both wicked wit and wicked savvy with fashion designed TO THE MAN without making him some GQ clone. Ted is hysterical and suave - always bringing just the right ambience to the subject's evening. Kyan has inspired not only these subjects of the show to take better care of themselves - but has inspired me to take care of myself! These men are a wonderful blending of talent - and were they straight, and just ONE man - I'd fight to make him mine! As it stands - I will be satisfied to adore them from afar!

Sincerity
I adore these guys. There may be stereotyping of gays in the premise of the show, but the sincerity they bring to each "make better" is evident. The "straight guys" are almost always grateful and motivated to improve. Women everywhere benefit.

Tszujing
What a great show! What could be more ironic than 5 gay guys teaching straight men to be better companions for their women! I just checked the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy book and here is the official spelling of "Tszujing," which means to tweak, fluff, nudge or finesse something to be a little more fabulous or fun!

Celebrating gay abandon
The Fab 5 are so cool. They celebrate diversity in what sometimes seems to me to be an increasingly defensive and polarised world. They cross gender, age and cultural boundaries with gay abandon. Our whole family loves to watch.

Tolerance, understanding, acceptance
Watching the fabulous five I find myself smiling, happy and able to feel genuinely optimistic that understanding and acceptance will define our future. Australia is a multi-cultural country where sadly racism and intolerance has recently been nurtured by xenophobic and homophobic leaders. You guys cut through this hostile atmosphere to enrich my life. Now when I watch the news I play a game inspired by the show which gave intructions on the correct way to tie a necktie. The fashion is spreading among the most unlikely group of suit-wearers in Australian public life. I call my game ‘Queer tie on a bigoted guy’

Diversity and humanity
Can a life makeover be any more fun? These five gay, Manhattan men are prime educators for the general public about diversity and humanity. They are a five-man team that beats back the darkness of homophobia every week. My friends and I watch to get tips on cooking, decorating, and lots of jolts of humor. Irreverent, compassionate, saucy, they offer Reality TV that is actually useful. Bravo to Bravo TV for bringing this program to TV and for opening my heart to love more beauty, music, humor and truth about life. When "Cirque du Soleil" came on Bravo, I went out and bought a big screen, surround sound TV to enjoy the passion, colors and music.
