The walk we all have to take sometime...
I have fallen down. Perhaps not as far and not as fast as Beckham did in 1998 but I certainly know what it is like to have to pick yourself up and dust yourself off. His redemption was the walk of a man becoming a man. The walk we all have to take sometime. The treble. Euro 2000. The goal against Finland. THAT goal against Greece. Finally, Argentina: As soon as it was a penalty you can imagine that all four years went by in his mind. I had goosebumps. Once he scored, a weight was lifted. His smile was bigger than ever. Beckham was back knowing he could survive anything at all. I know how he feels. I think we all do really.

Tragic Fortunes
Tragically, David's season with Real Madrid and his distinctly average Euro 2004 with England have done him no favours. The "experiment" in Madrid to convert him from a right-sided winger into a central playmaker has failed, and he realises that. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to have affected his commercial standing. Long live the power of the celebrity endorsement.

Probably the most popular footballer
Probably the most popular footballer on the planet. Even though his transfer fee from Manchester United to Real Madrid is not too "expensive" (compare to Zidane or Ronaldo prices when Madrid bought them), it made huge impact on the business side (huge loss to ManUtd stocks). Aside from the transfer biz, David proved himself as one of the world's most flamboyant midfielders on and off the field.
