Desert Boots

Desert Boots are khaki suede lace-up boots that were particularly fashionable in the 1970s and 80s. They originally came on the market in 1950s when they were used as military boots to give soldiers a softer alternative to hard leather army boots.

  • Conforms to need, not want

I've never trekked through an actual desert with them, but I know they would be capable of it! Simple design, created solely with the need of function rather than fashion - yet even so, they still look great. Crafted from supple yet durable leather with a flexible but tough crepe sole. Even the minimal four-eyelet lace conforms to need not want. Epitomised by the seam which runs up the front of the boot, it was created at a time when conformity to social regulation, particularly dress, was strictly adhered to. To throw caution to this was inspired… as the practicality of the shoe was the chief concern. Who cares what you look like when you're in a desert?! Even the name is simple yet precise. Desert Boot even has a dictionary definition: "ankle-high boots, with laces and soft soles" - exactly that, nothing more, nothing less…
