Opou kai na taxidepso i Ellada me pligonei (Wherever I go Greece wounds me) - Seferis I also adore the country and its people - the extraordinary light, mountains and sea. Once you have lived there, or even better learnt to speak the language a little with the inventors of philoxenia (hospitality) you will never be the same again. No wonder they love their own country - i mana mou Ellas (my mother Greece) - it, its history and culture and the beauty of landscapes ravish any sensitive mind and create the loyalty and fierce idealism which leads to Kazantzakis' immortal Greek statement: I want nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.

When I think of Greece I think of the Parthenon
Greece is possibly one of the most beautiful countries in the world. The phenomenal climate of zero humidity may have a lot to do with it. I could sleepwalk through Athens and not lose my way. I could live on the waterfront penthouses in Thessaloniki and forget that the rest of the world exists. I could travel the islands and want to return to the mainland. I have seen a mermaid in the Aegean, Alexander the Great's sister and she asked me if he rules and conquers and I said yes lest she anathematize me. When I think of Greece I think of the Parthenon my architectural Lovemark because "democracy" began there. Greece is the Zen of countries!

Can't wait to get home
As an American living in Greece I took some time to adapt, but I now consider it my home. The values are close to what the great country of America used to be. I can't wait to get back home.

No doubt
There is no doubt that Greece is perfection, though I do not understand how a whole country can be a lovebrand. I think someone went a little coo-coo in love while visiting there.

I felt in heaven when I was there
Greece is a Lovemark for me because of its culture, its food, its people, and its natural beauty. When I went there (summer 2002) I could feel the mystery of the Greek myths in the air as I visited the Parthenon and the many museums that unveil the rich history of the country. I have always loved Greek mythology and felt in heaven while there. The Islands, especially Santorini, are very sensual. The sounds, the smell of the sea, the beautiful sunset, the surroundings, and the heat... Santorini is the "perfect" place for romance, arts, and dreams to become reality. And last but not least, the culture. Greeks are so warm and full of life. They love people and treat others as family. They eat divine foods...Gods' foods that awake all of the senses, and they are so happy! The love of my life is 1/2 Greek and I went on this trip with him. He had never been there, so it was a great experience to discover it together! All this is why Greece is my Lovemark.
