  • This is the best!

I love this book. As I am a nanny I have to read lots of books and this is the best! I now have my own copy which I take with me. I never get bored of it. Go Max!

  • Let the Wild Rumpus Begin!

Oh yes, Let the Wild Rumpus Begin! It's about crossing the line, knowing you're crossing the line, and doing it anyway. Long live Max and the Wild Things.

  • All time favorite book

I just recently got new checks, and on them are Max and the Wild Things! I too love this book, and after stumbling across this post, I can't wait to get home, get my niece and buy this book for her. She's five and she will love it! It is my all time favorite book!

  • Hundreds of children who understand the magic

It is impossible to underestimate the magic of sharing this little book with children. I teach fourth grade, and have never had a class of children who didn't love the story. By the way, don't forget to look at the characters' little jaunty feet, usually tilted up on the heel. I suggest this to all, along with my hundreds of children who understand the magic. We'll eat it up, we love it so! Max won't say no.

  • Wished I could be Max!

This was the first book I bought my now-9 year old. I loved it as a kid, and wished I could be Max! Please, please read this book, and many others to your kids!

  • Passing on my love

This is one of my all time favourite books. I fell in love with this quirky little story and Maurice Sendak's artwork when I was a little girl. I have repurchased this book to give to my son and hopefully pass on my love of this book to my future generations.

  • Magic

Nearly twenty years have passed since a friend gave this book to my young son. What magic! We read it so many times that to this day, I can still recite almost all of it from memory. At a recent dinner party, we were discussing our favorite children's books and I was called on to do just that. The magic lived on as others in the room helped through those parts that had faded from memory. Respect? I've downloaded the text into my Palm and I sometimes review it when I'm being too adult.

  • A magical place

Maurice Sendak's illustrations are sublime and the story is simple but compelling. I had the opportunity to hear Sendak speak recently and I feel that his stories come from a magical place...

This is one of my all-time favorite books, by one of my all-time favorite artists. Max and his wild adventures have always been a part of my family's life!

  • Absolutely enchanted

What a book! It was first on both my son's bookshelves and remains a family favourite. I've bought it numerous times and have passed it on to children and adults, too. I will never forget the look of delight in my childrens' eyes when I roared the terrible roar and gnashed my terrible teeth while reading aloud to them. At halloween there was much angst over getting the homemade Max suits just right...and there had to be two Maxs in the family. They were absolutely enchanted. I remain so.
