Big but personal
Imagine a big broadcasting company. Reliable like BBC, but personal like your local radio station. Imagine a phone-in music request show in which you can talk live on air, and be heard worldwide! (I have done it twice.) The broadcaster is the Voice of America and the particular show is Border Crossings with host Larry London. You can listen both on a real radio set or on the Internet.
