Hauling pair after pair across the country

Women can quickly fall into a very scary category of ‘footwear fanatic’ when their collection numbers in the hundreds. Runners are known to be loyal to a brand for decades, so much so that the brand name practically embeds itself into the skin. I am both, and as a female runner I am quite fond of my Vasque trail runners. So fond, in fact, that my loyalty knows no bounds. I proudly display mud-encrusted sneakers tied to my carry-on as I traverse airports while wearing a cashmere coat and heels. I lovingly tuck them into overhead compartments, hauling pair after pair across the country and around the world in search of dirt to run upon and miles to cover. It does not matter the featured color of the year; I buy my Vasques in bulk, often putting 500 miles behind me in the span of 8 weeks. I walk everywhere, I run when the trails are right and the trails are always right when I’m outfitted in my well-loved Velocity trail runners. These shoes are lightweight, breatheable and organically beautiful…sort of like a good friend. As sexy as ‘motion control’ sounds, it’s essential when rounding a sharp bend in a trail as you descend a mountain. The Vasque Velocity trail runners have become an extension of my body, the criss-cross tread is a lovemark I place upon the earth with each step.
