  • I still ahve remarkable stories

I have stayed there and I still have remarkable stories from just a few days' stay. First there is the amazing smoked trout that we got to share before dinner. Normally trout is not sold in New Zealand, but if someone catches one for himself, then the chef will cook it for him. And if he is really, really nice he will share with the handful of other guests. Then there are the people you may meet. I met the author Robert Jordan and his lovely wife. But best of all was a rollicking dinner in the wine cave with five good friends. I will always remember the real candles in the chandelier. Oh, and the river runs right outside the door of your room.

  • A heavenly dream

Who doesn’t want to go to heaven? My Lovemark reminds me of heaven. We believe it exists but live merely in the hope of experiencing it rather than any real knowledge that we will. We read stories expounding its excellence. We hear the names of those privileged enough to taste it. We see the odd glorious photograph. However overall, it still remains a wonderful mystery. Huka Lodge, New Zealand, is my Lovemark. I picture the beautiful rooms, feel the crisp linen, smell the magnificent food, hear the rushing water. But it is all in my head, my fantasy rather than my reality. I tell myself that one day I will get there. But no one is pushing me. Instead, subtly I am fed tiny tidbits whetting my appetite to experience this marvellous place. Huka Lodge I don’t know you but I love you. Well, where would we all be without dreams?
