Mount Kilimanjaro is the crown of Tanzania. At an altitude of 5895m it is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the largest volcanoes ever to burst through the earth's crust.

Nowhere else on earth can you journey through the four seasons in six days, going from desert heat to artic conditions, experiencing summer and winter every day. The routes vary, but the destination remains the same, and for those who make it, feelings of humble gratification as you look out across the clouds below and the plains of Africa. Standing there, it’s strange to think how many people have died attempting to reach the point where you are now, how the guides earn less than $250 a year and have climbed the mountain more than 200 times in their lives, and, apart from the odd photo, that memories are the only thing you can buy up here.
