  • 30 years later I still look at the building and ma

I can remember as a child to Sydney Opera House construction site. To me it appeared huge and it was, I was full of marvel. Today more than 30 years later I still look at the building and marvel. What anyone looking at the building needs to keep in mind is that this structure was built in the 1960's well before computer modelling of any kind. Built of many traditional materials, it is a place of international merit. It was an early example of Australia's great energy and innovation.

  • Just close my eyes

It was a dream for me to see Sydney Opera House since I was 4... when walking in the street I saw a little part of it hiding by the skyscrapers my heart started beating so fast... I could not believe it! Standing in front of the Opera House I thought I was living one of the best moments of my life... waiting to be there again I can just close my eyes and I see it.

  • Fostering a native culture

In 1941, Australian Politician WJ McKell mentioned the need for a new opera house, and urged that everything be done to "foster a native culture" - a culture that would express the aspirations and ideals of Australian peoples. The Sydney Opera House!! An icon of the Australian lifestyle.
