Japanese Alice in Wonderland, I thought it was great. I think every child should see this brilliant piece of work. It is only a shame that more films can't live up to its reputation!

  • His films capture the spirit of youth.

Film maker extrodinaire, Hayao Miyazaki is Japan's most accessible director, giving us box-office classics like 'Princess Mononoke' and 'Spirited Away'. His animated films capture the spirit of youth when its optimism and bouyancy is faced with darkness. The story lines of his original scripts are deeply imaginative and draw on Japanese and European imagery in a way never seen before. The messages in his films speak to us like a reminder of something we have forgotten. Unsurprisingly, other of his films are based on popular children's literature. The Disney-Tokuma Deal ensures that the work of Hayao Miyazaki will continue to dazzle the film going world.
