Her novels helped me to grow in my own faith
Operating Instructions saved my life! Not long after the birth of my first child, I read this book and discovered that it was okay to be an imperfect parent. Bird by Bird informs my writing. Her novels on faith have helped me to grow in my own faith more than any experience with clergy.

A great encouragement
Her style and content have been a great encouragement to me as I work on my memoirs. Above my writing desk is a simple sign that says "Bird by Bird" - it helps me slow down and focus.

A living Lovemark
This woman is an incredible writer (Bird by Bird, Operating Instructions, Rosie...to name just a few of her books). But more than that, she is human, humane, gut-bustingly funny, and spiritual yet humble. Her written and spoken words have inspired me to write better, observe more, and seek to experience life in all its craziness and glory. She is a living Lovemark.
