GBV kept the flame of old school rock and roll alive, and kept us believing. Their music distilled rock down to its purest essence, a burst of teenage adrenaline for all ages. Sure, it may be true that Bob was better at writing hooks than complete songs. But good lord, what hooks they are.

Guided by Voices' extensive catalog of indi rock gems and "failed experiments" inspires a near obsessive following among their fans. Born of a midwestern temperament, the sonic assault led by Robert Pollard and the boys from Dayton transcends the expected formula of the majority of today's music. GBV makes no excuses, they throw everything at the listener, leaving only a yearning for more.
