  • A brand that takes care of you

    If I told you, "Don't leave home without it", the little green card will pop to your mind. It's true that it's not accepted in little local spots, but if you travel...trust me, don't leave home without it. Amex is a brand that takes care of you. If you are lucky to carry a Gold Card, just slip yourself to the lounge rooms in any mayor airport and you will see how Amex will take care of you.

  • Now I use Visa

    Amex is not a 'good' Lovemark. It does inspire loyalty beyond reason, but fails with everything else. I had an Amex card for four years. I got tired of going to restaurants, pulling out my Amex, and then hearing "Sorry, we don't accept Amex." So now I use Visa. That's the only card I carry, it's accepted everywhere and it gives me better rewards than Amex's proprietary point system ever did!

  • The only reason

    The only reason I use AMEX is because I get frequent flyer points. Otherwise they are terrible. Very few businesses in Europe seem to accept this card. And when I do spend in Euros, it gets converted first into US dollars and then from US dollars to Australia dollars before it hits my account. You can imagine how much in fees and biased exchange rates are skimmed off in that sequence. And don't be even a day late with even $1 in paying the AMEX account - you get hit with all sorts of charges and fees. In short, AMEX isn't a Lovemark to me.

  • Hemingway's Moveable Feast

    I love my American Express card because of Hemingway's Moveable Feast.. He was always visiting the American Express office in Paris--and so did I when I lived there, across the street from my favorite building in Paris, the Garnier Opera House.

  • A confidence that I would be OK

    Amex is like a father figure in my life. Growing up I travelled often and many of my discoveries and my lessons in life would simply not have happened without Amex. It gave me a confidence that I would be OK no matter where I was in the world. And that friendly, almost familiar voice on the phone when you need help or advice never fails to re-assure and comfort me. I know I can sleep all right at night when my daughter goes world hopping because I trust the quality of service and the professionalism of Amex.

  • A simple phonecall solved the problem

    Once, some years ago, I was about to travel to the US and, one day before the flight, my wallet was stolen, including my Amex card. A simple phonecall to Amex solved the problem: on the following day I received a new card at my hotel in New York. It was simple as that. And thatīs why I love my American Express card.

  • It has never failed

    I do a lot of travelling around the world and there is nothing more correct than their motto: Donīt leave home without it. It is a true and honest motto. And don't ever leave home without it! I feel secure when I carry it in my handbag, because I know I can count on its wonderful services and staff. Iīve been a member since 1987 and it has never "failed". It is accepted everywhere and you are more respected if you hold one. They simply accept it, no questions asked. And there are no credit limits.
