Souvlaki

Souvlaki is a Greek fast food consisting of meat and vegetables grilled on a skewer and sometimes eaten within a pita bread.

  • Souvlaki plate Australian version

After reading the beautiful Eleni's comments I must agree with her. Soulaki is a meal you can eat 2 - 3 times per week without a problem. Here we mainly eat the Souvlaki on a stick (KALAMAKI) either lamb or chicken. When eaten on a plate it is served with greek salad, tzatziki, pita triangles and chips or rice. I prefer the marinated meat on the stick as opposed to the meat on the wall.

  • Delicious habits

Even though souvlaki does not belong to Greece it has been developed here. As a Greek person I really enjoy eating one of the foods that is consider to be our traditional ones. I definitely agree with anyone who says souvlaki is one of his most delicious habits.. Greek people love souvlaki with pork or chicken and also they like mixing its taste by adding french fries, potatoes or lettuce in it! I know people that eat souvlaki even four or five times a week. If you know where you can enjoy a good and well-made souvlaki you will surely love it... and somehow be addicted to it...

  • Not bored with the taste

I am definitely a food person and it's really hard to even think about giving up a favourite food. The hardest one it would be to live without is one of our traditional plates in Greece; souvlaki with gyros(pork meat)and tzatziki or other sauce. I mix it up a little and add french fries. So far it's the only meal I can enjoy on an everyday basis... and not be bored with the taste. I am really curious to see if one day I turn down one!!!
