  • The heart that goes into making Pet Refuge work

If I could combine all the heart that goes into making Pet Refuge work, that love would transcend time. I admire most animal rescue organizations, but my local Pet Refuge (in Indiana, USA) is the one I will continue to give money to no matter where I live or how my fortunes fare. It doesn't have the snazziest facilities or the greatest publicity machine, because it's all volunteer and every donation goes to paying the food and medical bills for the animals. The Refuge places a lot of emphasis on fostering animals so they won't have to live in cages until they are adopted, and the adoption screening process is thorough. I have four dogs adopted from various places, but have never seen an animal shelter I admire more.
