One entertaining show
Alton Brown has a command of a subject that many people give little thought about (save us "foodies"). I've tried many techniques and found them to be indispensable. Not to mention he has one entertaining show!

Alton connects these two disparate worlds
Cooking is as common as ... well, apple pie. And yet there is a great mystery to it - a hidden layer of chemicals, proteins, compounds, and reactions that lies just beneath the surface of our favorite Sunday dinners (lovemarks in their own right). The kitchen and laboratory tables appear to be miles apart, but Alton connects these two disparate worlds with an affable flair and quirky style that conjures up memories of the iconic Julia Child with a liberal sprinkling of Mr. Wizard. Cooking has long been celebrated as an artistic endeavor, as it should. Alton reminds us, though, that the mysteries and wonders of science have as much to do with "Good Eats" (on the Food Network) as the imagination of the chef.
