In its prime it used too much fuel, too much oil, it weighed too much and it required too much maintenance. But it made too much horsepower and 33 years after the last Hemi was available in a production car, Chrysler reintroduces the name and turns their company and image around almost overnight... all based on the legend. The Hemi, AKA the elephant motor, the basic building block for every top fuel and funny car drag racing record in the books, the engine that allowed Chrysler to dominate street, strip and oval track from the 50's to the 70's, the engine that forced NASCAR to change its rules. The engine that singularly pushes the value of a new $4000 '71 'Cuda to near 7 figures today. Now that's a Lovemark.
