It is indeed the ultimate Lovemark
Real insight hits us in ways surprisingly always pragmatic, as though an always there awareness was finally revealed. Avant-Guide Travel Books are back pocket time machines, reading the pages, peeling away the (seriously) back pocket city maps, never once seems like a chore, something one does so they kind of see their surroundings - with this informative series, enjoying uniquely local insight from a global viewpoint, and with ease, we’re reminded of creative minds like David Ogilvy, who once asked Sir Hugh Rigby, Surgeon to King George V "What makes a great surgeon?" Sir Hugh replied, "There isn’t much to choose between surgeons in manual dexterity. What distinguishes the great surgeon is that he knows more than other surgeons." With Avant-Guide I do feel as though I simply know more than others, may their minds soon be enlightened. It is indeed the ultimate Lovemark.

Taken by the terrific recommendations
Absolutely the best travel guides. And here's why: I travel a lot, for both business and pleasure. I also think that I know lots of cities very well. I, of all people, don't need guidebooks to tell me what to see and do. I have friends for that. Then, I happened to come upon Avant Guide. I was first attracted by the graphics. This is not a 'normal' guidebook. It's very stylish. Then I was taken by the terrific recommendations of places I, nor had my friends ever heard of. Whenever I show these books to friends, they want to thumb through them forever. It's hard to get them back. The books are incredibly well organized and have lots of very handy maps too.

It’s the perfect Lovemark
I love Avant Guide. There is so much to say about it. First of all, I live in Chicago, and bought the book to get to know my own city better. I see it in book stores all over the city and the look and format stands out head and shoulders above the competition. It’s the perfect Lovemark. I love everything about it: The pocket informer at the end of the book, the tidbits at the end of each chapter like the right wine to pick with food and the clothing size converters. And the slang section is one of my favorites. I also found many surprises listed in timelines that were new to me. Next time I travel, I intend to pick an Avant Guide destination, and there is no doubt which book I will be taking along!

Now I dont have to hide in my hotel...
I own over 500 travel books and have seen just about every kind of travel publication. I was just in the bookstore and came across Avant-Guide Prague. I’m sorry to say that I’ve not come across these guides before. This must be one of the first travel books that doesn’t scream “tourist”. Sleek cover design and an unique pocket size booklet in the back which contains restaurants and other useful information, all plotted on a map. Why didn’t anyone think of this before ? Now I don’t have to hide in my hotel room studying all the maps before I go out anywhere.

Unusually fun and kicky style
I must say that when a friend gave me your Las Vegas guide as a Christmas present last year I thought “oh great, another guide book.” Once I started reading it and after the first time I put the book down I found myself obsessing about my trip to Las Vegas. These guides are written in an unusually fun and kicky style – which is a big difference from other travel books. Wandering around Las Vegas I found the information about each of the restaurants and bars was spot on. And better yet, I didn’t feel so much like a tourist. This guidebook was the most useful I have ever come across! So I just wanted to let everyone know - superb guidebook. I'm certainly going to grab the Avant-Guide London for my next trip there. Maybe it will even change my opinion of that town!

Utterly complete and truthful
Husband has to go to a scientific conference in Paris (in April). "Sure, I'll come along." Neither of us thinking "Wooo hooo, Paris!" Pick up the Avant-Guide to Paris. Have the most mind blowing vacation of our lives! Food and shopping recommendations that were utterly complete and truthful. And non-touristy in the best way! Three years later, we're moving to France!

Straight-to-the-point writing
I travel a lot and am skeptical of overly trendy things. After purchasing Avant-Guide New Orleans for my trip I found that it is simply dead-on. The straight-to-the-point writing made it simply the best travel book I've ever used. It satisfied my needs in a way no other travel book has ever done. Later, while on business to San Francisco I picked up a copy of Avant-Guide San Francisco. The book had information I didn’t find in any other guidebook, nor had I found in my 5 years of travelling there. Again pleasantly surprised, I must say that it made my trip to San Francisco. For example when it was late and I had trouble finding a restaurant, Avant-Guide's section on late night dining saved me. Avant-Guide is precise, visually perfect, with a balanced set of useful information. I love travelling when I have my Avant-Guide in-hand.
