Founders, Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank opened the first Home Depot stores in Atlanta on 22nd June 1979. Home Depot has since become the world's largest home improvement retailer.

Grout deal
My Mom had kitchen grout that was coming out after about 30 years of use. My Uncle had the same problem and called a local tile contractor who bid to re-do the grout for both of them. The bids were $650 and $800. While my relatives could afford it, they are seniors and have somewhat limited funds. I was at Home Depot for another purpose and wandered over to the flooring/tile section and asked an associate if he had a solution that a homeowner could use. He recommended a pre-mixed grout that came in several colors, a float and large sponge. Cost under twenty dollars. I did Mom's tile and showed my Uncle how to do his. Savings of $1430. The tile looks great and can now be cleaned properly! This isn't the first time this home store has saved me money.
