The 'curiously strong peppermints' that I pop in whenever I want to feel fresh or avoid the temptation of lighting another cigarette. I love the tin box with its classic retro look, the ritual of lifting the paper lining to reach for a piece, then rolling the tongue over the rough edges and inhaling the cool sting of peppermint flavour. I always keep a box in my desk, in my car and at home so that I never run out of my favourite. Right from my childhood I have been an Altoids addict and even after 50 years I still love it. The legend says Altoids comes from the time of King George III. Well, the king may have lost his American colonies but he did have Altoids at least to keep his cool.
