Since 1966 when Gerd Müller designed teh still classic Lamy 2000 family of fine pens, Lamy has been at the forefront of modern minimalist design. They've had classics that many designers covet (like the Lamy Safari fountain pen) and their instruments just beg to picked up, touched and played with. Even their pens for first graders are tactile and geometrically interesting while at the same time understated.
The Lamy 2000 ballpoint in African Blackwood has a weight and balance that is close to perfect. The Pico is ingenous in the way it goes from lipstick-sized bullet to full size pen. The Safari is friendly and whimsical in its variety of colors and materials. Finally Lamy is a Lovemark for me because their pens are made for people who work...who like beautiful things but require of them simplicity, utility and beauty. And isn't that what a Lovemark is?
