On a flight from Washington National to Boston several years ago, I sat next to a distinguished looking executive. After brief pleasantries, we both immersed ourselves in our work. Upon landing, as we had a few minutes of waiting as the crew had some trouble with the jet way, my seatmate leaned in and said, "Great bag, isn't it." That's when I noticed we carried Tumi briefcases, his in leather and mine in ballistic nylon. We chatted enthusiastically about our bags for a few minutes and were then joined by a fellow from the row behind, also an enthusiastic Tumi briefcase owner. We all three chatted about our bags for several minutes more. With the jet way in place we proceeded off the plane bidding each other fond and energetic goodbyes. I later learned that my seatmate was the then Senator of South Dakota, Tom Daschle.
Tom, the Ralph Waldo Emerson of our age, is one of the most insightful business thinkers alive. He and his merry band of associates at the Tom Peters Company are out to help people Re-ignite their organizations. Re-invent your business. Re-imagine your world. A tireless proponent of change and innovation in business for the last 20 years, Tom's passion, unique perspective and distinctly different delivery creates "the Tom Peters Experience", an infectious call to action that reaches CEO and mail room clerks with equal impact and can cause them to think, act and behave differently.
Whether reading his many books or listening to his tapes, attending one of his many speaking engagements or talking to him one-on-one, what I've seen is what I've got, pure unadulterated Tom.
