    • A positive reason

      BookCrossing

      19 August 2004

BookCrossing.com is one of those rare websites that bring together people from all over the world for a positive reason - sharing their love of books and reading. There are few places in life that encourage sharing in such a great way.

    • That book you've always talked about writing...

      National Novel Writing Month

      22 October 2004

NaNoWriMo is an insane, intense, fun, and inspiring concept where once a year, people from around the world attempt to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. It's a great opportunity to take risks and write that book you've always talked about but was reluctant to try. Plus, you won't be alone; your fellow participants are there to share your pain, writer's block, and procrastination techniques.

    • Magical and surreal

      Neil Gaiman

      12 January 2005

Neil Gaiman's stories are magical and surreal. I love his writing style, his wit, and his imagination. On his website, his journal provides yet another reading experience where he's created a community of sorts. Through him, you interact with others who share your love of his work, as well as send him messages and URLs. Peppered with Neil's unique sense of humour, his journal provides all sorts of entertainment and exposes you to a world you may not know about.

    • For that alone...

      Joss Whedon

      12 January 2005

Forget Buffy and Angel! The important thing is Joss created Firefly and the upcoming Serenity movie. For that alone, he is worthy of a Lovemark. ;)

    • I even got a couple of my friends hooked

      Firefly

      20 January 2005

Firefly is a science fiction/western TV series that aired on Fox for just one season. Created by Joss Whedon of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame, the ratings were poor and episodes were moved around. The show's fans, however, showed their loyalty. Through word of mouth and the DVD release of the series, Firefly's fanbase is growing every day. I even got a couple of my friends hooked on the series! Firefly's fans will finally be rewarded in 2005 when Serenity, the Universal Pictures movie based on the series, takes flight.
