Nutiva represents everything I want in a brand. It stands for delicious high quality taste, it's great for my health and that of the planet, it supports industrial hemp farmers in Canada and is doing all it can to see hemp grown again in the US (30+ other countries grow it with no problem) and it gives something back through its 1% for sustainability program. It's also a great example of social responsibility, it's a great DAVID AND GOLIATH story in surviving an absurd DEA lawsuit that attempted to put them and the hempfood and cosmetic industry out of existence, and has a much quoted pasionate and visionary leader in its founder, John Roulac. For these reasons and more, Nutiva is, to me, a great example of a Lovemark.
Patagonia combines the mystery, sensuality and intimacy of nature with a deep commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Not a lot of companies strive to sell less by making better products that last longer and make you feel great about buying them.
They walk their talk every day and every mile... something that empowers their customers to do the same. This catalog quote says it all for me: "In the economy of abundance, wild salmon are given back rivers in which to run. Trees grow to their natural height. Water is clean. A sense of mystery and enchantment is restored to the world. We humans live within our means and, best of all, we have the time to enjoy what we have".
A true Lovemark!
A great example
