  I have been volunteering with the Chicago Festival Association for five years now and they put together the McDonald's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The first year my cousin pulled me into it since she was interning for them and she did not want to do the parade by herself. I am so glad she did because working the parade was a blast and the best thing was that it helped me figure out what I wanted to do in life, which is event planning. My cousin and I have worked our way up the volunteering ladder and now we are on the leadership board and in charge of what we originally volunteered for which are the Specialty Units. The Chicago Festival Association is volunteer based so the people are always friendly and helpful. I love how we all work together year round to put on one of the greatest parades for Chicago on one of the best holidays. The best feeling is knowing how much the community enjoys the parade and that we are apart of their Thanksgiving tradition! I could not imagine how my life would be if I never took part with this organization. I would have never attained my internship through them or have had the opportunity to meet with so many different Chicagoans at their networking events. I am truly proud and thankful to be involved with the Chicago Festival Association.
