Not until Maranui was ravaged by fire last week did I truly realise how much it meant. It's a familiar space with familiar faces, perched right on the beach, brimming with love and delicious food - not to mention the divine coffee. While it's being rebuilt, I can't help feeling like a close friend has just passed.
