Apple is not just a company, it is a culture. People don't just buy one Apple product and switch to a different company for another technological product. Customers are devoted and loyal to this brand. I have had Mac computers my entire life, and barely even know how to use a Dell, or any other brand for that matter. There are Mac users and there are Dell users; it's legitimately culturally divided. I also own an iPod and the iPhone, and all of my accessories, such as my iPod cases, phone cases, and my computer case were all bought at an Apple store. The Apple computer ads on TV emphasize the extensive differences between Apple and Dell which instills pride for those already part of the Apple world and creates a longing and desire to switch for those who are not.
